We build software the way a cabinetmaker builds furniture — for a long life, in a specific place, for a specific purpose.
Amanita is a small studio based in Canaan, Vermont. We design and build vertical software platforms for our clients — production code for specific industries, built end to end. Our clients own the source code, the brand, and the data; many keep us on to host and keep developing it for years afterward.
Those clients are domain experts with a clear thesis about what their field needs and a willingness to commit. We are full-stack technologists with a consistent backbone — multi-tenant from the first commit, AI used where it genuinely helps, regulated-industry rules treated as features.
The combination is the work. A pottery scheduler that doesn't understand drying physics is a calendar. A museum collections platform that doesn't understand cataloguing standards is a spreadsheet. A tree-farm app that doesn't understand phytosanitary rules is a liability. Most generic tools stop at the surface; we don't.
A few opinions, plainly stated.
Niche industries deserve real software.
Museums, working potters, tree growers, archives, trades — fields with deep operational complexity and small total addressable markets — get treated as too small to serve. We disagree.
Multi-tenant isn't optional.
Tenant isolation belongs at the database, not in application code. We build it in from the first migration, every time.
AI should reason, not decorate.
We use modern AI where it genuinely improves the workflow — schema-aware assistants, retrieval over domain corpora, agent tooling — and skip it everywhere else.
Ship and stay.
Software that runs in production for years requires someone to run it. We deliver the build and, for clients who want it, stay on for hosting, monitoring, on-call, and ongoing development.
